Setting up Outlook 2013 (O15) on a machine for the first time, and connecting to an Exchange ActiveSync-compatible host. To reproduce the bug one would need to block certain versions of Outlook from connecting to the ActiveSync-compatible service (which
in this case is Traveler, a facade that allows Office and mobile users to connect to Lotus Notes).
Message is: "The server configuration prevents you from synchronizing. Contact your system administrator."
Error is: HTTP/1.1 403 The User-Agent of the request, Microsoft.Outlook.15, is not allowed. Error Code: 0x80004005
Bug: There are 2 buttons in the modal dialog, OK and Details. OK simply re-triggers the error producing an endless loop; there is no way to gracefully exit Outlook in this state without resorting to Task Manager.
Notes: Connect advised reporting this bug here as this didn't occur in a pre-release version (I'll test Outlook 2016 next). Note that the error is not directly related to the bug and I need no assistance in resolving this error, which is thrown as expected. The bug is the endless loop triggered by poor exception handling, from there is no way to gracefully exit.
Cheers,
-Eli.
